Current Skincare Routine (Feat. YÜLI, In Fiore, and Josh Rosebrook Reviews)

Lately, I think many people in the green beauty community have been feeling overwhelmed by new products and a pressure to keep up with unrealistic instagram skincare routines that feature a new product every week, claiming it to be the “next best thing” as more brands hop on the healthy living and wellness trend. While I, myself, am also susceptible to falling for the latest skincare trends and social media hype, I’ve been on a journey to curate a more balanced, minimalistic skincare routine that revolves around the Beauty Heroes motto: “Use Less. Love More.” In addition, I think with climate change being in the forefront of recent current events, it’s important to put things into perspective and try to be more conscious about our consumer habits by not only consuming less overall but also by supporting brands that value sustainability, cruelty-free practices, and leaving the world a better place than they found it.

EVOLVh Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Screen Shot 2017-04-15 at 8.04.22 AM

Over the years, I’ve tried countless green beauty haircare products and it’s been a struggle to find haircare products that I really love. I had originally heard about EVOLVh a few years ago when I first heard about Petit Vour, but for some reason I had never tried their shampoo and conditioner. I think at the time, the most popular natural haircare brands were Rahua and Yarok and there weren’t very many bloggers talking about EVOLVh. However, now there are much more green beauty haircare options like Innersense Beauty (another brand I recommend) and Siam Seas (this is on my wishlist!). While I tend to rotate my haircare products, EVOLVh has quickly become one of my favorites! If you haven’t found a natural haircare product you like, you have to check out EVOLVh.

After almost 2 years of trying different beauty box subscriptions, I’ve accumulated a lot of products and figured out what works best for me and what doesn’t. I’m currently trying to find a balance between my love of cruelty-free skincare and beauty products and being more thoughtful about my consumption. These are my current favorite green beauty boxes that make going green and cruelty-free super easy and fun.

A Beginner’s Guide to an Ethical & Sustainable Wardrobe

For anyone interested in green beauty, once you’ve transitioned to more natural, ethical brands for your beauty and household needs, the next logical step would be to review and refine your wardrobe. I think a lot of us are guilty of supporting and participating in fast fashion without realizing the consequences it has on our environment and the retail industry in general. Thrifting is a great way to still partake in fashion trends and find unique pieces to add to your wardrobe. There are also so many ethical fashion companies that make the transition a little easier. Here are my current favorites:

Boxwalla Beauty Box Review | FACEts of Spring April 2016

I feel like the amount of beauty boxes in the natural/vegan category has nearly doubled in the past year. There’s a lot that I still have yet to try (e.g. Art of Organics, Glowing Beets,  Klover Box, etc.), but I’ve been working on reducing my beauty box subscriptions so I can use up all the products I’ve accumulated over the past several months before I sign up for any new ones. My goal is ultimately be more minimalist about my beauty and skincare routine, but as you can tell, it is still a work in progress.

After making a commitment to clean up my skincare and beauty routine, I never thought I’d ever try Birchbox. However, they recently released a Limited Edition Box called “New Naturals” and it features big name green brands such as One Love Organics, Tata Harper, RMS Beauty, and Ilia Beauty. For $59, you get a box of 8 products (7 full-size and 1 sample-size) along with a makeup bag, making the box value a total of $215!

Tinted Sunscreen Reviews

Despite being a self-proclaimed skincare junkie, I still like to keep my daily skincare routine simple. I’ve been on the hunt for my HG (Holy Grail) tinted moisturizer/BB Cream but have yet to find a product that I absolutely can’t live without. However, I have tried several tinted sunscreens and while the Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream Tinted with SPF 30 is still on my wishlist, these are the four tinted sunscreens that I have tried recently:

March Makeup Favorites

After all the subscription boxes from the past year, it’s taken me awhile to find products that I really love. I’ve a huge fan of multi-purpose products, especially when it’s makeup that simultaneously functions as skincare. Below is a list of my current makeup favorites:

SkinOwl Lavender Beauty Drops Review

IMAG1306

SkinOwl is a brand that is local to me and I actually met the founder, Annie Tevelin, several months ago at a small green beauty event in Studio City, CA. She was very kind and knowledgeable. She helped me pick out the Lavender Beauty Drops since my skin is blemish-prone and a bit on the sensitive side. I was already a fan of the Mangosteen Beauty Drops PM, so I wanted to try one of her AM Beauty Drops and instantly fell in love with the lavender scent.
