Despite being a self-proclaimed skincare junkie, I still like to keep my daily skincare routine simple. I’ve been on the hunt for my HG (Holy Grail) tinted moisturizer/BB Cream but have yet to find a product that I absolutely can’t live without. However, I have tried several tinted sunscreens and while the Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream Tinted with SPF 30 is still on my wishlist, these are the four tinted sunscreens that I have tried recently:
- Honest Beauty Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid Sheer Tint SPF 30 ($28) – It contains “chamomile, calendula and aloe help to calm and soothe. Hyaluronic Acid attracts moisture, locking in hydration. Non-nano zinc oxide, mineral broad spectrum sunscreen protects against damaging UVA and UVB rays to help prevent signs of premature skin aging.” I have been on the fence about trying some Honest Beauty products because although some of their products have gotten rave reviews, I still find there are other green beauty brands that have cleaner ingredients. The formula has a bit of a runny consistency, which I’m not a big fan of. I think it does an adequate job but be warned that the “sheer tint” is exactly just that. This will provide you with very sheer coverage but it’s good for layering under makeup or mixing it with a heavy foundation that you want to sheer out. I think this product is great for those with dry or normal skin types. I’m not sure if oily skin types will like this product as much.
- Suntegrity “5 In 1” Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen – Tinted , Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($45) – This one is definitely the priciest of the bunch, but for good reason. It has won numerous awards and is both cruelty-free and vegan. It’s a cult favorite among green beauty bloggers and I was lucky enough to receive a small sample of this in my Petit Vour subscription. My sample was in the color “Light” but I’m curious about trying the shade “Golden Light” to see if it’s a better match for my skin tone. It is described as “an all in one, ‘UV Chemical-Free’ Tinted Sunscreen/Beauty Benefit (BB) cream that treats, hydrates, protects, primes and covers the skin.” I really enjoyed this product and used it up rather quickly! If coverage is a concern for you, this one probably has the most coverage out of the four. I’ve been thinking of picking up a full-size of either this product or the Juice Beauty CC Cream, but I wanted to wait it out and sample the Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Tinted Day Cream before I take the plunge. The high price point is also a little discouraging but you can definitely catch this on sale or shop through Beauty Heroes or Petit Vour’s online shops for discounts year round.
- Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream SPF 30 ($39) – It is a “12-in-1 multi-tasking CC cream (color correcting) [that] delivers the ultimate in age defying, skin perfecting results.” I love that it contains certified organic ingredients and I like that it is relatively easy to find in stores or online. When this product first came out, everyone and their mom raved about it on No More Dirty Looks . I like that it’s very moisturizing and easy to apply. It’s definitely one of my favorites out of the bunch. It is currently tied with Suntegrity at the moment when it comes to purchasing the full-size version.
- Coola Mineral Sunscreen Rose Essence Tint SPF 20 ($36) – It is described as a “UVA/UVB sunscreen, a tinted, light Rose scented, Titanium Dioxide based formula (for those who are Zinc sensitive) made with 98% natural ingredients. Organic Acai Oil – high in Omegas-3/6/9, Vitamins B1/2/3, plus antioxidant Vitamins C and E – delivers a powerful defense against aging. Organic Sunflower Seed Extract promotes elasticity while organic Linseed Oil, containing Alpha-Linolenic Acids, reduces redness and irritation. The phyto-protector Plankton Extract rejuvenates, as organic Cucumber Extract calms skin.” A lot of bloggers rave about this product but I personally wasn’t exactly wowed by it. I know that Coola carries a wide variety of face sunscreens, so maybe I just need to try other products in the line. I wasn’t a fan of the rose scent or texture of this product and thought that it felt a lot heavier and thicker than the other 3 sunscreens I was using. I didn’t reach for this one often and would not repurchase. It also has the lowest SPF count out of the bunch, so I wasn’t too happy about that either. If you’re on the fence on which product to try, I highly recommend checking the ingredient* lists first and once those pass your minimum requirements, look at which product fits your skin type best. In my opinion, Juice Beauty and Suntegrity are the best out of the four. The only cons are the limited shade ranges and the higher price points. For a product that you will use daily to protect your skin, I think the investment is definitely worth it.
