A Review of the Best Green Beauty Boxes 2017

After almost 2 years of trying different beauty box subscriptions, I’ve accumulated a lot of products and figured out what works best for me and what doesn’t. I’m currently trying to find a balance between my love of cruelty-free skincare and beauty products and being more thoughtful about my consumption. These are my current favorite green beauty boxes that make going green and cruelty-free super easy and fun.

Best Skincare Box: If I could only recommend one green beauty box for skincare, I would highly recommend subscribing to Beauty Heroes. While Beauty Heroes no longer offers a month-to-month subscription plan, once you start with the 3 month subscription plan (which breaks down to about $38.33 a month), you will be hooked! The value of each box is incredible and you get full-size products that are carefully curated and tested by the online community of Beauty Heroes Brand Ambassadors, which include some of my favorite green beauty bloggers. I love the motto of Beauty Heroes, which is “Use Less, Love More.” It’s easy to get overwhelmed when transitioning to green beauty, but Beauty Heroes saves you time and does all the research for you. Plus, as a member you get 15% off each time you shop at the Beauty Heroes online store. So, you can conveniently repurchase your favorites when you run out. Past boxes featured popular eco-luxe beauty brands such as Maya Chia, Osmia Organics, UMA oils, Mahalo Skin Care, Josh Rosebrook, IN FIORE, and Skin Owl.

Best Makeup Box: If makeup is more your thing, you must try the Teri Miyahira Beauty Box, which includes at least 2 full-sized makeup items and 1-2 medium sized skincare/body care products. This natural/vegan beauty box is so popular that it sells out every month and there is a waitlist for the next month’s subscription. Each box is about $39 a month, which I think is a great value for 2 full-sized natural, cruelty-free products. I love that the ingredients are clean and cruelty-free without sacrificing the performance of the product. Teri is always doing something innovative and unique in the green beauty world and she even has the cutest, super-soft vegan makeup brushes!

Best Bi-Monthly Subscription ($49.95, bi-monthly): The Boxwalla Beauty Box  is a favorite 2016 Beauty Box discovery. I love that it is bi-monthly, so I actually have more time to use up the products and the curation for this box is out of this world! You get a mix of green beauty and skincare and they include full-sized products and deluxe sample sizes. The value of the next box (April) is $110 and since they tend to sell out quickly, I highly suggest signing up now, so you don’t miss out. Past featured brands include popular green beauty brands such as RMS Beauty, Siam Seas, Gressa Skin, One Love Organics, Lina Hanson, Wabi-Sabi Botanicals, Moss Skincare, Biodara, Odacite, and Rachel’s Plan Bee.

New (to me) Subscription Boxes: Esthoria Box and LoveGoodly. These are both bi-monthly boxes. Esthoria Box focuses on luxe green beauty products (full-size) and subscriptions start at $40.99 (plus shipping) every other month. You usually get a choice between products, which comes in handy when they feature their makeup boxes. You get to choose which colors you prefer, which is a nice customizable feature. They also offer a lifestyle box that features non-toxic household products, so you can also simultaneously detox your home. LoveGoodly features eco-friendly, natural, vegan brands for $29.95 (includes free shipping) every other month. Not only are their boxes a great value, but each purchase also supports great causes such as Farm Sanctuary, Cure Cervical Cancer, and  Beagle Freedom Project.

Honorable Mentions*: For vegan beauty, Petit Vour ($15 per month) and Vegan Cuts ($22.95 per month, but can be as low as $18.50 per month with a 12 month subscription) are my favorites. They’re both affordable and great companies that help promote a cruelty-free lifestyle. These boxes offer more sample-sized to deluxe sample-sized products (with the occasional full-size product) and are perfect to use when traveling.
