Zue Beauty Exfoliating Facial Scrub and Daily Facial Moisturizer Review

If you’ve been following this blog for some time, you’ll know that I’ve been trying to reduce my overall skincare consumption this year. Resisting those tempting new skincare launches were hard at first, but I soon discovered that decluttering and using up the skincare products that I already own was more satisfying than buying new products that I didn’t really need. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised when Zue Beauty reached out to me to try out some of their skincare products. As someone that takes pride in supporting ethical companies, I was excited to learn more about Zue Beauty and what stood out to me most was how Zue Beauty allows their customers to be directly involved in their Give Back program. For every Zue Beauty purchase, you get to have a say in where your hard-earned dollars go by entering the Give Back code that is on the back of every product. Their causes range from planting trees at the Mesenia Paramillo Natural Reserve to funding new school supplies and clothing for children in need.

The first product that I tried was the Exfoliating Facial Scrub* (Retail: $18.99), a gentle, creamy facial scrub that features apricot seeds as a natural exfoliator and aloe vera as a soothing and moisturizing ingredient. Other featured ingredients include quinoa (for it’s nutritive properties that help revitalize the skin and improve skin texture), sesame oil (for improving skin oxygenation, firming the skin, and detoxifying the skin), macadamia oil (which is rich in oleic and linoleic acids to help improve skin elasticity), and gingko biloba (which contains antioxidant properties and has soothing, anti-aging effects on the skin). This scrub is reminiscent of the famous St. Ives Apricot Scrub that was all the rage when I was growing up (minus the harsh ingredients, of course!). I love using this twice a week to exfoliate and because it has such a creamy texture, it won’t leave your skin feeling stripped or dry.

Ingredients: Water (aqua), Chenopodium (quinoa) seed extract, Sorbitan tristearate, Disodium cocoyl glutamate, Sodium cocoyl glutamate, Ginkgo Biloba extract, Cetearyl alcohol, Glycerin, Decyl glucoside, Glyceryl stearate, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) seed powder, Dicaprylyl carbonate, Macadamia nut oil, Sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil, Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice, Aloysia citriodora (lemon verbena) leaf oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, Sodium stearoyl glutamate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan gum, Citric acid

The second product I received was the Daily Facial Moisturizer* (Retail: $19.99), which is also quinoa-based and contains green tea, a powerful antioxidant that soothes the skin and protects it against the sun’s drying effects. The Daily Facial Moisturizer also contains benzoin, which has an intense moisturizing effect on the skin and assists in improving the texture and the overall appearance of skin.

I love the texture of this moisturizer! It has a gel-cream consistency that quickly absorbs into your skin and leaves your skin feeling instantly hydrated. If you suffer from dry skin, you need this moisturizer in your life! It’s lightly scented (using essential oils) and if you love the smell of lemon verbena and/or ylang ylang, then this moisturizer is right up your alley.

Ingredients: Water (aqua), Chenopodium (quinoa) seed extract, Panthenol, Sorbitan tristearate, Linoleic acid, Dicaprylyl carbonate, Cetearyl alcohol*, Glyceryl stearate, Styrax benzoin resin extract, Camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, Tocopheryl acetate, Sodium stearoyl glutamate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lippia citriodora (lemon verbena) leaf oil, Cananga odorata (ylang ylang) oil, Allantoin, Xanthan gum, Citric acid.

In addition, Zue Beauty has been featured in internationally recognized publications such as Marie Claire, People, Global Cosmetic Industry, and the brand was also recognized at the Indie Beauty Expo (which is basically like BeautyCon for the green beauty community) with a 2017 Best in Show award!

Other notable features of the Zue Beauty skincare line:

  • Cruelty-Free
  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free
  • GMO-free
  • Certified B Corporation
  • Farmer Support

Another thing that stood out to me was the affordability of Zue Beauty’s skincare line. Unlike many green beauty brands, I love that Zue Beauty’s skincare line is budget-friendly with nothing over $22! With many green beauty brands often costing an arm and a leg these days, it’s nice to have more affordable options whether you’re a college student or someone who is just transitioning into green beauty.

Lastly, these are just some of the current causes you can help support through Zue Beauty’s amazing Give Back program! I love that Zue Beauty isn’t just about providing ethically-made, effective skincare, but they also seek to empower their consumers by providing them with an opportunity to become an agent of change around the world. According to Zue Beauty, “after a cause receives enough votes, it’s fully funded and the Zue Team will carry out the mission, sharing videos and updates!” How cool is that? Zue Beauty is proof that small changes can make a big impact in the world. 🙂
