Peace Out Acne Dots Review

I recently tried out the Peace Out Acne Dots that I had picked up from a past Sephora sale in 2019 and OMG. These dots REALLY do work! I know pimple patches have been around for some time, but for some reason I completely overlooked them and never paid much attention to them. Probably because they are hardly discussed in the green beauty world. So, what exactly are these Acne Dots

Well, according to Peace Out‘s website, the Acne Dots are “the first of its kind to combine hydrocolloid polymer technology with an active anti-acne ingredient to minimize breakouts overnight.” This technology is similar to bandages that have been used for decades by doctors in order to speed up the skin healing process. The Acne Dots utilize ingredients like salicylic acid to clear-up acne-causing bacteria and vitamin A and aloe vera are used to promote clear looking skin and reduce the appearance of redness. They are cruelty-free (yay!) and latex-free as well.

I love that the Acne Dots provide a physical protective barrier around the blemish because I am totally guilty of picking at blemishes, which is counterproductive and only makes it worse. I also like that it’s far less messier than any other topical acne/blemish product. They are so simple and easy to use. All you have to do is place the dot over your blemish and leave it on overnight for at least 6 hours. The adhesive ensures that the dot isn’t going to move around while you sleep and the active ingredients can then effectively treat and target the blemish without irritating the rest of your skin. Although I don’t think I would wear them out during the daytime, you could wear the dots during the daytime since they’re clear in color and don’t significantly stand out on your face.

While I noticed significant results from the first time I started using these dots, they aren’t going to completely cure your acne or make your blemishes disappear overnight. Depending on the size and severity of the blemish, it will still take some time to completely heal the blemish, but with consistent use, I find that these dots do speed up the healing process and help keep your skin clear. According to Peace Out, these dots work best on pimples that have come to a head (i.e. a whitehead).  While I agree that these dots work best on whiteheads, I have also used these dots on pimples that are still underneath the skin and have noticed a reduction in redness and size of the blemish! While it does take much longer to see results on blemishes that are still under the skin vs. pimples that have come to a head, I found that the acne dots helped my blemishes heal faster overall vs. using other spot treatments.

Although, I do not have acne, I am prone to hormonal breakouts around my chin, nose, and cheeks from time to time. I have found these acne dots to be such a huge game-changer when it comes to treating blemishes. I’m obsessed! I love them so much that they’ve quickly replaced any other spot treatment I have tried in the past as my new favorite, must-have skincare product. Most importantly, the dots have stopped me from picking at my blemishes and spreading around bacteria, so hopefully this will reduce any other future blemishes from recurring in the same spot.

Lastly, the only con I’ve found so far is that these dots are quite pricey in comparison to other pimple patches. They currently retail for $19 (for 20 dots) and $32 (for 40 dots) and can be purchased either at Sephora or directly through Peace Out‘s website. For the most savings, I highly recommend stocking up during a Sephora sale and utilizing your Rakuten cash back rewards. The dots come in a set of 10 per sheet and while they are not perforated, you can easily cut them in half if you want to cover smaller areas. I don’t find them to be as effective on whiteheads when they are cut in half, but it is a great option for smaller blemishes that don’t necessarily need a whole dot for coverage.

I’m currently trying out Hero Cosmetics’ Mighty Patch Original since they appear to be a bit more cost-effective based on the quantity of patches that they offer. However, they do lack the same ingredients as Peace Out’s Acne Dots. Hero Cosmetics offers their Mighty Patch Original for $12.99 (36 patches) or $21.99 (72 patches). I think if your breakouts are less severe (i.e. you have few whiteheads), then you may prefer the simplicity and affordability of the Hero Cosmetics patches.

Pimple patches are easily my favorite skincare find of 2019 and I highly recommend trying them out! Once you try them, you will never want to go back to other traditional spot treatments. They are incredibly convenient and effective. I can’t imagine not having them in my skincare routine.
