Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash Review

I picked up the Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash  (13 oz) on a whim when there was a BOGO Free sale at my local Sprouts store. While I’ve tried other scents, the Coconut & Papaya scent is my current favorite! I’ve already repurchased one as a back-up during the past Black Friday sale. If you prefer bar soaps instead, Nubian Heritage also offers their scents in bar form, which is even more affordable and uses less plastic packaging. The bar soaps are also great for no-fuss traveling.

The key ingredients used in the Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash are Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Papaya Enzymes, Comfrey Root extract and it is designed for all skin types. The body wash is made with certified organic ingredients and is cruelty-free  (i.e. not tested on animals). The texture of the body wash is nice and creamy, and it also lathers quite nicely. If you want to avoid using too much product at a time, it’s best to apply a small amount to your favorite loofah or konjac sponge. The scent is a sweet tropical scent and the only con I can think of is that the scent does not linger long afterwards, but if you want to layer your scents, you can apply the same scent in their body lotion and/or hand cream formulas.

About Nubian Heritage

From selling on a sidewalk in Harlem, Richelieu Dennis and Nyema Tubman transformed drops of scented oil into sundial creations, a business conglomerate that today includes 4 retail stores and a state of the art 50,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. Locally, the company provides community entrepreneurs, artists and authors a platform to sell their crafts, books, jewelry, clothing and other handmade products through the sundial stores. A percentage of sales are donated to local congregations to support youth and other community development programs.

Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash contains anti-aging, brightening and firming properties with vanilla bean extract. Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash is never tested on animals. The coconut palm has touched all aspects of daily life for millions of tropical communities. Since the 1st Century B.C., the coconut tree has provided shelter, transportation and, more importantly, food. Coconut Oil, high in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, is an excellent skin softener and protector. Papaya contains papain, a naturally occurring enzyme, used for centuries to gently dissolve dead skin cells, loosen pore blockage and stimulate circulation.

  • Benefits: Antioxidant-rich Coconut Oil is easily absorbed into the skin to protect the skin against damage by preventing free radical formation. Coconut Oil also strengthens connective tissues to prevent sagging, wrinkles and blemishes, and helps reduce skin inflammation. Papaya enzyme exfoliates, stimulates circulation and firms skin. Shea Butter and anti-inflammatory Comfrey Root extract promote healing.

Ingredients: Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Coconut Oil Soap), Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate (Palm Kernel) , Glycol Stearate (Palm Kernel), Stearamide AMP (Palm Kernel) , Deionized Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Essential Oil Blend, Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), Sodium Lauroyl Hydrolyzed Silk (Silk Proteins), Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Papain (Papaya Extract), Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower (and) Lonicera Japonica (Japanese Honeysuckle) Flower Extract*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Milk *Denotes certified organic ingredient

*It looks like the main preservative used is Japanese Honeysuckle, which is a controversial ingredient in the green beauty community. I’m personally fine with using Nubian Heritage products because it is a brand that I trust to be cruelty-free, ethically-responsible, and transparent. This is a brand that has been vetted by other vegan companies that I trust such as Vegan Cuts and Petit Vour. However, I suggest that you always do your own research to determine which ingredients you are comfortable using in your products.
