Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation Review

I’ve been meaning to try Tarte’s new mineral foundation ever since I sampled it at my local Sephora. When I found out about Tarte’s Friends & Family (30% off!) sale, I jumped on the opportunity to grab one for myself. My previous foundation was always Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation in Light and I liked the convenience of using mineral foundation vs. liquid foundation, which can feel a bit heavy.

Tarte’s website claims that this foundation gives you natural -looking, waterproof, 12-hour lasting coverage without settling into fine lines and wrinkles. It comes in 11 shades and features a custom mesh system that gives you a mess-free, fool-proof application every time. Tarte also sells an airbuki bamboo powder foundation brush that is designed to be used with this foundation, however, I just used my own brush (from Ecotools) when applying foundation and did not have any problems.

The foundation shade that I purchased is called “fair light honey” and it is for fair to light skin with peach undertones. I often find it difficult to find foundation that matches my Asian skin tone, but this seems to match me quite well. So far, I’ve been wearing this foundation for about a week and have not had any problems throughout the day despite the 90 degree weather.  I have read online that wearing this foundation with a primer will improve the mattifying finish, particularly if you tend to have drier skin. I really like that the coverage is buildable and the container isn’t as messy as my old BE one. The shade matches very closely to my own skin tone and goes on very smoothly. The only real downside to this foundation is the lack of SPF. but that can be easily fixed by layering sunscreen on your face, underneath the foundation.

Tarte is also cruelty-free and many of its products are made without harsh chemicals and parabens. Has anyone else tried this particular foundation? What are your thoughts?
